The Sheldon-Trail Summer Jam was established in 2008 to create a competitive and well-organized summer boys' varsity basketball tournament in the greater Sacramento area. Today, the tournament has grown to become the largest and most competitive boys' varsity summer basketball tournament in Northern California. The tournament includes 60 teams from Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Merced, the Bay Area, Chico, Fresno, and Nevada.
The Sheldon-Trail Summer Jam is held June 21-23 in Elk Grove, CA. The tournament features over 170 games in 3 days. The games are located at three high schools - Sheldon, Monterey Trail, and Elk Grove. All games are played on main courts and each gym has air-conditioning. The format of the tournament includes 4 pool play games on Friday and Saturday and 5 competitive single-elimination tournaments on Sunday.
